The body of a missing teenager who vanished several months ago has finally been found.
17-year-old Freddy Perham of Stolford, Somerset, was last spotted at his family farm back in September 2022.
Following his sudden disappearance, a massive search for Freddy was launched. Unfortunately, there was no sign of the missing teenager until his body was found in the marshlands near Bridgwater.
According to the reports, the discovery was made by a local at Steart Marshes on January 30.
While the boy’s identity couldn’t immediately be confirmed due to the state of his body, formal identification of the remains established that the body belonged to Freddy.
“There are no words to describe the overwhelming grief we have as a family at the loss of Freddy,” the young man’s family expressed in a statement.
“The five months that Freddy was missing, were torturous, not knowing where he was, or whether he was alive. And whilst the news of his death is devastating, now that he’s been found and returned to our family we can lay Freddy to rest and grieve.”
They added: “Freddy was a wonderful boy. His carefree and infectious spirit was loved and cherished by all his family and friends and knowing we will never experience that again leaves us with a huge hole that can never be filled. We hope that he is now at peace.
“Freddy our son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend, you will be terribly missed.”
The family also thanked some one hundred police officers and rescuers who participated in the search for several months.
“The care you have shown us will not be forgotten. We know the police were supported by many other specialist search agencies and volunteers and we say thank you to you as well for giving so much of yourselves to us,” they said in a tribute to the rescuers.
Concluding their statement, the family also shared their gratitude to members of the local community and family friends who supported them throughout the ordeal.
While the exact cause of Freddy’s death remains unclear, the police have ruled out foul play.
