A young boy was killed by a lawn mower after his father accidentally ran him over while cutting grass around their house.

3-year-old Maddox from NSW, Australia, was rushed to Pambula District Hospital with critical injuries after being struck by his father’s sharpened lawn mower blades.

According to the reports, the boy was playing at his home when his father reversed the ride-on mower and accidentally ran over his son.

“He reversed over the poor child. He didn’t see him,” the police revealed in a statement.

Unfortunately, Maddox succumbed to his injuries and passed away at the hospital. The boy is survived by his heartbroken mother, father, and two older sisters.

“As you can understand this is a very difficult time for the family and they were not prepared for the sudden passing of Maddox or the high cost of a funeral,” Jessica Porter wrote in a GoFundMe fundraiser as she and other residents of Maddox’s community rallied to support the devastated family.

“We are hoping to raise enough funds to allow Maddox’s family, including his two older sisters (5 & 9 years old) to give him a beautiful send off, honoring his memory. Allowing everyone to have their final goodbyes and celebrate his life.”

The fundraising page went on to brand Maddox as an “energetic and happy toddler” who made “a huge impression on everyone he met.”

“His family have many beautiful memories to cherish and recall his cheeky personality and would like to provide Maddox with a memorial that honors these memories,” the GoFundMe page continues.

“Maddox loved the color blue and painting his nails with his big sisters, so in celebration of his life we ask that all attending the memorial when it is announced wear something blue and paint your nails pink for Maddox!”
