A young boy was killed alongside his grandparents in a horrific car accident.
Three-year-old Tom O’Reilly from Ireland was riding a car through the town of Cashel, Ireland, along with his parents, aged 22, and grandparents Thomas O’Reilly, 45, and Bridget O’Reilly, 46.
According to the reports, Tom, Thomas, and Bridget were killed instantly when their car slammed into a wall in the Windmill-Knockbulloge area on Tuesday night.
While the parents were also injured in the crash, they are both expected to live despite the father’s “serious” injuries.
“I want to express my sincere condolences and the sympathies of every member of An Garda Siochana to the family and friends of Thomas, Bridget and Tom on this tragic loss of life,” Garda Superintendent Kieran Ruane said.
He continued: “Our local community here in Cashel is shocked and deeply saddened by this tragic road traffic collision involving five members of one family, with three deceased. I have spoken with the family of the deceased this morning, a family that is devastated by this terrible incident.
“I assured the family and I want to assure the community that local gardai here in south Tipperary are here to support them and the community, as we all come to terms with this tragedy over the coming days, weeks and months.”
The officer went on to say that the crash would be thoroughly investigated as he appealed to the public to step forward with any information that could help resolve the case.
Speaking out was also local councilor Roger Kennedy who extended his sympathies to the loved ones of the deceased and said it was tragic to lose three members of the same family.
“They are a large extended family, they have great support here and there will be great support for them from the community,” he said.
