5-year-old Andre Daisy was with his family – including three sisters, mom Trudy Stanley-Thaiday, and stepdad Jarick – on their dream trip in Queensland, Australia, when he suddenly started feeling ill and showed flu-like symptoms.

As his mother revealed, the boy complained of having a sore tummy while staying in Brisbane on the last day of the family’s trip. After a good night’s sleep, the boy woke up with a headache and began vomiting.

Believing that the boy is likely suffering from a common tummy bug, the family packed up and began their journey to Townsville thinking Andre’s condition will soon be behind them.

At around 2 pm that day, however, everything changed when the child suffered a seizure near the coastal city of Gladstone.

While his mother immediately stopped the car and called an ambulance, Andre’s seizures continued until he was brought to the hospital where doctors were forced to place him in an induced coma.

Sadly, the boy would never recover from the swelling of his brain even though his prognosis initially looked good.

On Saturday, the doctors told the family there was nothing more they could do for the child, and on Sunday, he passed away. The cause of death was confirmed to be meningitis encephalitis according to the family.

Staying by the boy’s side at the time of his death were his mother Trudy, father Larson Daisy, step-dad Jarick, and step-mother Lana.

Since the tragic news, Lana’s sister, Shaneen McCann, launched a GoFundMe page to help the family raise enough money for a proper funeral. The fundraiser has since reached the goal amount of $20,000.

“Andre like many other kids joked around with funny sayings and phrases. Just over two weeks ago, Andre jovially said to his Mum, ‘When God comes knocking, you better let him in.’ This phrase has brought so much comfort to the family; knowing that God must have come knocking ready to take this little Angel home to heaven.”

The tear-jerking statement concluded: “Andre will be remembered as a fun-loving son who was supposed to turn 6 this year. He will be incredibly missed by both sets of parents, both sets of siblings, and every heart he touched. May he rest in eternal peace.”
