A teenage boy made a miraculous recovery as he came back to life after being dead for two hours.
16-year-old Sammy Berko from Texas suffered a heart attack while climbing a rock wall at his local gym back in January.
According to the reports, paramedics and gym doctors rushed to the athlete’s aid after he rang his emergency bell while scaling the wall.
In a bid to save his life, the staff continuously performed CPR for two hours even though Sammy was already pronounced dead.
To everyone’s shock and amazement, the boy suddenly came back to life when his heartbroken parents were saying their final goodbyes.
“They looked at us and said, ‘He’s gone.’ I started talking to him, just telling him how much I love him and sorry that we didn’t know how to save him,” the boy’s mother, Jennifer, said in an interview with FOX26.
“Suddenly, as I started praying, my husband said, ‘oh my gosh, he’s moving.’”
After noticing movement in their son, the parents called the medical team back to tend to their son and rush him to the hospital.
“These are professionals who have been doing this their entire lives, who have seen the worst of the worst. Each and every one of them afterward came to us and said that they have never seen anything like this before. Ever,” Jennifer added.
“That feeling of seeing his heartbeat, there are no words for that. There are no words We just stood there. I mean, grateful is the biggest understatement ever to know that he might make it.”
Despite being dead for two hours, Sammy managed to walk away from his near-death experience with minor brain damage and some short-term memory loss.
He also suffered a spinal injury that forced him to relearn how to walk.
As doctors explained, however, things could have been much worse if not for the teen’s miraculous comeback and recovery.
Following the major health scare, it was discovered that an undiscovered genetic heart condition known as CPVT was responsible for the boy’s heart attack. The same condition took the life of his older brother, Frankie, back in 2020.
