A young boy has passed away after being left alone in a car for eight hours.
3-year-old Sholom Tauber was found dead in his family’s car outside a preschool in Miami where both of his parents work on Monday.
According to the reports, the incident took place at Lubavitch Educational Center in Miami Gardens where the boy’s parents, Rabbi Menachem Tauber and his wife Nehama Tauber, work.
Despite having experience working in a daycare center, the father appeared to have left his young son in his car for eight hours before realizing he was missing.
After the discovery, the 3-year-old was airlifted to Jackson North Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Following the boy’s passing, the Miami-Dade County Medical Examiner ruled his death accidental and confirmed that the child died of heat exhaustion and hyperthermia.
As the authorities believe, Rabbi forgot about his son when he parked his car outside the daycare on Monday morning. It remains unclear if the man’s wife was with him and scheduled to work that day.
“This tragedy hits close to home, and many in our school community have been affected by it. No words can capture the heartbreak and sadness we feel,” the Jewish center’s dean, Rabbi Benzion Korf, said.
“Our deepest sympathies are with the family at this time of great loss. We ask the community for their prayers and to respect the family’s privacy as they grieve.”
As of this writing, the tragic case remains under investigation and the police are reviewing surveillance footage to get to the bottom of the incident.
