An 11-year-old boy with asthma tragically passed away after collapsing suddenly during a basketball game.
Joshua Ruff was a young basketball enthusiast and a Year Six Torquay College student from Australia who collapsed onto the floor during a Wednesday game at Wurdi Baierr Stadium in Torquay.
Despite tremendous efforts to save the boy’s life, nothing could be done to save Joshua from the devastating consequences of a horrific asthma attack.
Following the child’s sudden death, a memorial was set up for Joshua at Torquay Basketball Stadium.
Meanwhile, his mother paid a tear-jerking tribute to the “kind” and “caring” 11-year-old.
“My beautiful boy, words can’t describe how much we miss you. You filled our hearts with so much joy from the minute you were born and were so kind, caring, funny, loving and just the most beautiful soul,” mom Melissa expressed.
“We know you are in heaven, hanging out with Jesus and that is what is getting us through and bringing us peace, we will see you soon my precious boy.”
After announcing the time and date of her son’s funeral, Melissa went on to thank the local community for all the support and kind words.
“I can’t thank everyone enough for their messages about Josh and so many people he touched and had connections with means the world to us and is filling us with joy so please keep sharing these with us,” she added.
“The support we have received is so amazing and we feel so much love from everyone and we can’t thank you enough.”
Our thoughts are with Joshua’s family and friends during these challenging times.
