Chase’s family said that his mother could no longer deal with him. They claimed Child Protective Services had visited the house ‘dozens of times’ but were never allowed inside the house.

Officers visited the property and suspected that there was something wrong when the mother refused to cooperate and even tried to flee.

Cops entered the home and found the boy’s decomposing body in a basement freezer. Five other kids were also found living in the filthy home.

The woman has been arrested and the five other children were taken to hospital for evaluation.

Chase’s grandmother Toni Haynes told The Detroit News: “I called CPS on her. A lot of us called, and they’d come out and give her kids right back to her.”

She also claimed officials went to the house many times but her daughter told them that her son went to live with his paternal grandfather’s girlfriend.

“But then (the grandfather) got out of jail and he told me Chase wasn’t living with his girlfriend.”

Detroit Police Chief James White said that the discovery of the body wouldn’t be possible without the cops’ intuition.

“They recognized there was something not right in the way the occupant was communicating with them,” he said.

At a press conference, he said: “This case has shocked me, and shocked our investigators. The other kids who were in the home — just imagine what they’ve gone through. Imagine what they endured living in that home.

“You can imagine they’re all going to be suffering from some level of trauma. We’ll learn more in the coming hours and coming days after the kids are interviewed.”
