Bob Saget reportedly died from a severe injury to his head that likely wasn’t caused by a simple slip and fall, experts say.
Following one month after the Full House star was discovered dead in his Ritz-Carlton hotel room in Orlando, the autopsy report has confirmed that the comedian died from head trauma after bumping his head against an unknown object.
Unaware of the internal injuries he had sustained, the 65-year-old allegedly went to sleep only to succumb to his injury and never wake up.
Now, after the results of the autopsy have been officially released, health experts have begun questioning the thoroughness of the investigation and suggesting that the actor’s death couldn’t be a result of a mere slip and fall.
As Dr. Gavin Britz, the director of the Houston Methodist Neurological Institute and a chairman of the Department of Neurosurgery at Houston Methodist Hospital argued, the injuries Saget sustained were comparable to someone falling 20 feet or being hit on the head with a baseball bat.
“This is significant trauma. This is something I find with someone with a baseball bat to the head, or who has fallen from 20 or 30 feet,” Dr. Britz told the New York Times.
Meanwhile, CNN’s chief medical correspondent and neurosurgeon Dr. Sanjay Gupta suggested that the actor’s injury “was not a simple bump on the head.”
“When you read this autopsy report that may still be the case, but it was a pretty significant blow to the head,” Dr. Gupta said.
“That takes a lot of force to do that. If I knew nothing else about what had happened, you’d think this was someone who had fallen down the stairs and had several impacts to the head or been unrestrained in a car accident.
“Whatever happened here, we may never know how he fell or what happened, but it was a significant blow that caused that. And likely, the bleeding on top of the brain is likely causing pressure on the brain and subsequently, sadly, what led to him becoming unconscious and dying.”
Questioning the thoroughness of the investigation was also Washington Examiner’s chief political correspondent Byron York who tweeted: “This is really odd. Makes you wonder about the thoroughness of the original investigation of the scene.”
While the cause of Saget’s extensive head injury remains a mystery, people have begun calling on the authorities to further investigate the stand-up comedian’s death and provide his family with the answers they deserve.
