A bakery has faced backlash and received threats after mocking Amber Heard in a video that was branded as disgusting and tone-deaf by some viewers.
Dessert Boxes is a Sydney-based business that came under fire after joking about sending the actress a hand-shaped donut along with a vodka bottle.
The video serves as a reference to the fight between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard during which the actor’s finger was allegedly severed off with a vodka bottle.
“We’ll cut off the finger with a vodka bottle, throw that in for her, too,” the person in the viral clip posted on TikTok by Dessert Boxes said.
Though some viewers were quick to find the video funny, many slammed the bakery and called their video sick and disgusting.
“This is disgusting. I hope they shut your store down,” someone wrote.
“This joke is about as tasteless as that dessert looks,” another said.
The third wrote: “Taunting a r*pe victim huh. You’re like 60, use what energy you do have in writing out your will, sweetie.”
After a barrage of angry reactions, the bakery spoke out but refused to apologize for the video saying they only posted what’s in line with their morals and ethics.
“A lot of people were against it and were very, very upset about it. We’ve received death threats and a lot of emails,” Mansour Shukoor of the company’s marketing team said.
“We don’t believe people’s anger and negative reactions should dictate what we post.
“We post what’s in line with our company’s morals and ethics – we posted it because it’s something we believe in.”
The company, which is openly team Johnny Depp, posted a series of others videos mocking Amber Heard and her lawyers.
In one clip, the creators joked about starting a fundraiser for Amber Heard’s lawyers so that they can go to school.
