Police are still searching for a 5-month-old baby who was kidnapped with his twin brother when their mother’s vehicle was stolen.
According to reports, the car was stolen by 24-year-old Naleh Jackson on Monday night while the mother went inside a pizza store.
The twins were still inside the vehicle at 9:45 on December 19 when the mother went inside Donatos Pizza in Columbus to pick up an order.
But when she turned around, her vehicle had already disappeared.
The mother can be heard telling dispatchers in a 911 call: “Somebody just stole my car and my babies are in there.
“I was just right here and all I was doing was just grabbing this pizza. I was right here, I didn’t even go inside the building.”
According to restaurant employees, a homeless person, identified as Jackson, was inside the restaurant but immediately went out when Barnette came in to collect her order, said Columbus Police Chief Elaine Bryant.
Jackson previously pleaded guilty to child endangerment charges in June 2021 after her 11-month-old baby fell down a staircase.
She was sentenced to 13 days in prison and placed on probation for two years.
Kyair Thomas was found cold and abandoned in a Dayton International Airport parking lot after the statewide Amber Alert but his twin brother, Kason, is still missing.
Police confirmed that Jackson was the primary suspect and had been spotted at a gas station driving the mother’s 2010 Honda Accord, which had a torn temporary registration tag and was missing a front bumper.
Police have issued an alert to surrounding states, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Indiana and Michigan, that a sighting of the 2010 Honda Accord should be reported.
