According to Doug and Jackie, they tried their best to protect the little girl by strapping her in a car seat and placing her in a bathtub together with her brothers for additional protection. The family also covered themselves with pillows to protect themselves from falling debris.

Despite the measures they had taken, the entire family was swept away and thrown at the side of their neighbor’s home after the tornado hit their house.

After getting everyone to safety, Doug rushed his family to the hospital where his son underwent a CT scan to monitor his brain bleed. Meanwhile, Oaklynn’s condition continued to worsen, whereas her doctors confirmed she had likely suffered a stroke as a result of her neck injuries.
