A young boy tragically died from drowning after sneaking out of his house and wandering to the neighbor’s pool.
Marcus Anthony Hall, who was affectionately known as Mar Mar, was a two-year-old energetic toddler from Oregon, Ohio, who on October 4 sneaked out of his family home with his older brother while their mother was sleeping.
While outside, the brothers wandered off to their neighbor’s yard where a large above-ground pool was erected. While it is not clear what happened next, it is believed that the toddler climbed the stairs of the pool before drowning and sinking to the bottom.
It was since revealed that the police were called to the neighborhood by a concerned neighbor just an hour before the incident after one of the mother’s children was left outside unattended.
“There’s a baby outside in just a diaper chasing a dog. There’s no adults,” the neighbor told the police.
After officers arrived on the scene, Mar Mar’s mother was told to be more careful and install safety devices to prevent her kids from running out of the house on their own.
Shortly after the cops left, the mother called the police and admitted she couldn’t find her 2-year-old son.
“I got woken up to the cops over here knocking on my door because they said that kids were running around outside, so when I woke up, it’s only my 4-year-old here,” the woman told the dispatcher before confirming that her youngest was missing.
After the police returned to the scene, they found the 2-year-old drowning in the neighbor’s pool. Despite taking quick action and performing CPR, it was already too late to save the boy.
Following the tragic news, the boy’s father, Anthony Hall, branded his late son as a “cool little dude” as he launched a GoFundMe page to seek help with the funeral expenses.
“I don’t how to explain this but I will try the best way I can. My name is Anthony Hall, Marcus’s dad. I just want my baby to be able to rest, I can’t imagine what was going through his mind during all this,” he wrote.
“It don’t help I got to wake up every morning and see the neighbor’s pool where this happened. Still with a ladder in it.”
