While actress Anne Heche remains in critical condition at an LA hospital, the authorities have begun investigating the crash as a potential felony DUI.
As the investigation into the Friday crash progresses, more grisly details have emerged, and it was revealed that Heche plowed her Mini Cooper into a Mar Vista home shortly after being involved in another traffic incident when she bumped into a garage.
It has also come to light that the actress slammed into the house at the speed of 100 mph while what looked like a vodka bottle with a red cap was resting within her reach.
As a result of the collision, the Mar Vista residence was heavily damaged and structurally compromised, forcing the tenant who resided in the building to move out immediately.
Since it was revealed that the tenant, who has been identified as Lynne Mishele, was in the house at the time of the incident and suffered abrasions as a result of the crash, the status of the investigation has been upgraded to a felony.
According to the reports, the LAPD was involved in the investigation, whereas Heche could face felony DUI among other charges.
“At this time, Anne is in extreme critical condition. She has a significant pulmonary injury requiring mechanical ventilation and burns that require surgical intervention,” a representative for the actress said in a statement as Heche continues fighting for her life.
“She is in a coma and has not regained consciousness since shortly after the accident.”
As of this writing, the extent of Mishele’s injuries remains unclear. As one of her neighbors said, however, she was lucky to be alive.
“I don’t think she got what was going on. She said, ‘What happened? What happened?’” Lynne Bernstein said as she recalled Mishele being in a state of total shock after the incident.
Meanwhile, the “kind and generous” woman’s neighbors launched a GoFundMe page to raise money to help Lynne recover from the ordeal and rebuild her life.
