Actress Anne Heche is reportedly in a coma and fighting for her life after crashing her car and suffering extreme burns to her body.
On Friday, the 53-year-old ‘Six Days Seven Nights’ star found herself trapped in her burning Mini Cooper after crashing the car into the garage of a Los Angeles residence.
According to the reports, the actress earlier that day bumped her car into the garage of an apartment complex in LA. Just moments after rejecting help from witnesses, Heche drove off in a hurry and plowed her car into a Mar Vista home that was destroyed in the process.
As seen in shocking photos from the scene of the crash, the ‘Return to Paradise’ star had to be dragged out of her burning vehicle and rushed to the hospital in an ambulance.
It has now been confirmed that Heche suffered extreme burns and remains in critical condition.
The actress is currently in a coma and is reportedly awaiting major surgery for her burns.
“At this time Anne is in extreme critical condition. She has a significant pulmonary injury requiring mechanical ventilation and burns that require surgical intervention,” a representative said in a statement to Deadline.
They added: “She is in a coma and has not regained consciousness since shortly after the accident.”
Since the horrific crash, a disturbing video showing speeding Heche nearly mowing down a pedestrian moments before the incident has emerged.
In the clip, the actress could be seen driving down an alleyway and barely missing a woman.
Meanwhile, the LAPD confirmed that the police are determined to obtain samples of Heche’s blood – despite her condition – to determine if she was driving under influence during the crash.
The investigators also revealed that the actress is believed to have plowed into the Mar Vista residence at a speed of over 90 mph.
