Amber Heard, 36, took to the stand and described the first time Johnny Depp allegedly slapped her.
Choking back tears, the Aquaman star told the court how she and her ex-husband fell in love and how their relationship eventually became strained.
Depp, 58, denies the allegations of his ex-wife, who claims he started judging her clothes before hitting her.
Heard said the first slap came while they were seating on a sofa and she asked Depp about the tattoo on his arm which said ‘Wino forever.’
She also said there was a ‘jar of coca*ne’ while they were having a ‘normal conversation’ on the sofa.
“I laughed, it was that simple. I just laughed because I thought he was joking and he slapped me across the face and I laughed,” she said.
“I laughed because I didn’t know what else to do. I thought this must be a joke because I didn’t know what else was going on.
“I just stared at him, like you’re laughing still thinking that he was going to start laughing to and tell me it was a joke but he didn’t.”
Heard continued: “He said ‘oh you think you’re funny b*tch, you think you’re a funny b*tch.’ Then he slapped me again and it was clear it wasn’t a joke anymore and I stopped laughing but I didn’t know what else to do.
“I as a woman had never been hit like that.
“I am an adult and I’m sitting next to the man I love and he slapped me for no reason.”
The actress described how she just “stared” at her ex-husband in response, then “he slapped me one more time, hard.”
She said that she lost her balance after that.
“I am all of a sudden realizing the worst thing happened to me that could possibly happen to me,” she said.
Heard claimed Depp slapped her three times.
She also claimed that after their fight, Depp got down on his knees and cried, saying he was sorry.
Heard said the actor told her: “I will never do that again. I’m so sorry baby. I thought I put the monster away.”
“I wish I could say I stood up and walked out of the house but I didn’t,” she continued. “I was heartbroken.”
Heard said Depp kept apologizing for his sudden outburst, purchasing expensive bottles to make up for what he did.
When asked by her attorney Elaine Bredehoft about what she felt about the case, Heard said: “I am here because my ex-husband is suing me for an op-ed that I wrote.
“I struggle to find the words to describe how painful this is. This is horrible for me to sit here for weeks and relive everything.”
