Amber Heard’s former friend has testified and recalled the time she and the actress got into a fight.
Raquel Pennington is an MMA fighter who was a close friend of the couple and was even given a key to live in one of Johnny Depp’s penthouses.
As Pennington told the Fairfax court where the blockbuster defamation trial is coming to an end in a video deposition, she and Amber went their separate ways even though they used to be very close friends.
“I wanted to spend more time with other people in my live. I wanted to prioritize other relationships,” Pennington explained.
The MMA fighter went on to reveal that she witnessed Amber doing drugs, including cocaine, and even joined her on some occasions.
Pennington also recalled the fight with Heard during which the actress allegedly slapped her in the face.
As she explained, the quarrel erupted during a dinner party at one of the homes of the Pirates of the Caribbean star. After Pennington pushed Heard during a heated exchange of words, the actress retaliated by hitting her in the cheek.
Pennington’s testimony came moments after Io Tillett Wright, Heard’s close friend, told the court that he, too, witnessed Heard using drugs including cocaine, mushrooms, and ecstasy.
As the photographer and New York Times freelancer revealed, Depp was a “magical, friendly and kind” person when sober.
His drugs and alcohol binges, however, would allegedly bring out his “ugly side” and cause him to lash out at people around him, Wright insisted.
“The monster will not win. I will not be that type of man. I don’t want to be that type of husband. I don’t want to hurt our Slim [Amber’s nickname],” Depp allegedly told Wright at one instance as he opened up about his inner demons.
Wright also recalled the couple’s wedding ceremony and claimed that Depp told him he was free to punch Heard shortly after getting married to her.
“We’re married. Now I can punch her in the face and nobody can do anything about it,” Depp allegedly said.
