35-Year-Old Voice Actor Billy Kametz Dies Just Months After His Terrible Diagnosis


Billy Kametz, a 35-year-old voice actor who lent his voice to many popular game and anime characters, has passed away.

Back in April, Kametz spoke out about his shocking diagnosis after finding out he had stage 4 colon cancer. At the time, the beloved voice actor reassured his fans that he was doing okay and that he had already begun chemotherapy and radiation.

Unfortunately, Billy succumbed to his illness on June 9, 2022, at M.S. Hershey Medical Center.

Kametz was arguably best known for giving voice to Ren in Pokémon Journeys: The Series. He also voiced Ferdinand von Aegir in Fire Emblem, Rui in Demon Slayer, Takuto Maruki in Persona 5 Royal, Colt in Brawl Stars, Naofumi Iwatani in The Rising of the Shield Hero, and Josuke Higashikata in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure among others.

“Anyone who has met Billy will tell you he is one of the most sincere, humble and loving people they have ever met. His infectious personality and smile always lit up a room with so much joy and happiness,” his obituary reads.

“Billy always left a positive impression on anyone he came in contact with. His love for his family, friends and girlfriend was always most important to him and that love will carry on forever.”

The obituary continues: “Billy was so appreciative and blown away by the very large outpouring of support and love he received during his battle with colon cancer. He wanted everyone to know how much it was appreciated and thanks everyone, especially his fans who he loved so much.”

The sad news comes just months after Kametz spoke out about his stage 4 colon cancer diagnosis that caught everyone by surprise.

“I’m staying really positive, and that’s the biggest reason that I wanted to make this video,” he said back in April.

“It’s just to let you know that I have so much support, so much positivity surrounding me. I just want to let you guys know that I’m not going to quit, I’m not going to stop fighting, and I’m gonna get through this.”
