The picture of the couple was shared on the That’s It, I’m wedding shaming (non-ban happy edition) Facebook community group, where it was lambasted by wedding critics.

“My niece got married this past weekend in a Titanic-themed wedding,” the post by the bride’s aunt reads. “She badly wanted a photo prop for her reception so my husband accepted the challenge.”

“He built the frame and I painted it,” it continued. “Such a fun project I had to share. It was a beautiful day and she was thrilled.”

The photo shows the newlyweds on a DIY model of the Titanic’s bow, similar to the iconic scene where Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio posed in the 1997 movie.

The post attracted fiery criticisms from many people branding it as ‘foul’ and ‘disgraceful’.

“This really p***** me off,” one person wrote in the comments. “My dad’s great uncle was a 15-year-old stoker on that damn boat who died a terrifying death. This is NOT ROMANTIC!! What’s next? Pompeii-themed ceremonies.”

“ACTUAL REAL PEOPLE DIED!” a second person commented. “Like a lot of them.”

“I blame that stupid movie for making a terrible tragedy that killed 1500 people into a romantic story,” a third one wrote.

“No. No. No. No. Do NOT romanticize mass death people,” another user has said.

Some social media users made the point that if people romanticized the Titanic shipwreck, people may move and romanticize other tragedies such as 9/11.

While some said that romanticizing the Titanic shipwreck that killed more than 1,500 people in 1912 was insensitive, others argued that the tragedy happened too long ago.

“The wedding is Titanic SHIP themed not TRAGEDY themed,” one person argued.

“It’s clearly based upon the film and a ship which was a romantic place?” another one added.

“People just like the movie and the love story, they don’t think about the tragedy and they shouldn’t,” another commenter said.

“It’s been 86 years since the Titanic sank, we can joke about it now,” a commenter added.
