A newborn baby passed away due to a heart attack in Romania recently.
The tragic incident was like every parent’s nightmare affair come true. According to media reports, the child underwent traditional Baptism rituals. And in the end, his poor little body couldn’t bear the pressure. He died before he could reach the hospital. And now, the world calls out for an end to such terrifying customs of the past.

Investigations into the case showed how the child was only a few weeks old. Moreover, his body was still weak due to the small size. But that didn’t make any difference to the priests at the Romanian Orthodox Church.

Soon, horrifying news broke out on how he died, just a few moments later. News reports confirmed how the autopsy showed liquid inside his lungs. Clearly, his death shouldn’t have taken place like this. Yet it did and it’s absolutely devastating.
An online petition for change
This isn’t the first time that such brutal infant deaths took place at the church. History shows countless other examples. However, it’s amazing to see how many put a blind eye to the disasters in place. It’s like there’s no justification or stopping of these incidents.
Thankfully, this incident may have ended with the worst outcome but it did pave way for change. And it’s a change that many needed.
Today, prosecutors open up a case of manslaughter against the priest who carried out the ceremony in Suceava. In the same way, there is an online petition that calls for ritual changes. So far, it has a total of 56,000 signatures. But what did it reveal?
Reports confirmed how the petition mentioned how the baby died from heart attack. In addition, it claims, “the risk should be ruled out for the joy of baptism to triumph.”
Some went as far as labeling religious officials as stubborn and brutal for turning a blind eye against the consequences involved. Other critics talked about less harmful effects that could come into place. This includes sprinkling a little bit of water over the child’s forehead. Through this method, you don’t need to completely immerse him.
