Famous retailing brand M&S has been blasted for promoting violence against women after a recent ad from their new campaign went viral.
A mother was a part of the few who recently slammed the brand for using such a picture that featured a boy pulling a girl’s ponytail, presumably his sister’s.
The woman was identified as Tracey Garcia who explained how the image was truly offensive on so many fronts and questioned what the brand was actually trying to promote with clips like these.
“It’s truly very offensive and is sending out the wrong message regarding violence towards all women around the globe,” she explained.
As a mother of one, Tracey said that the picture was misleading for so many young children who would now find it acceptable to take part in such violence at such a young age. “It’s sending out an incorrect message about violence towards women and we can’t let that happen,” she added.
The mum of one was then quick to share the brand’s picture on Twitter, alongside one artist’s drawing. This particular drawing included a quotation that explained that if boys are mean towards girls, don’t justify that behavior by saying he likes her because both violence and aggression are not signs of actual love.
Right after that, Tracey was super quick to mention with a follow-up post how she was dressed by the brand since she was 11 years old and for that reason carries great memories with them. But after seeing something like this, she was shattered and disappointed.
“I just love being able to shop online with such ease, especially for my son. But when I came across this picture of yours, I wanted to share how I felt,” she explained.
Ever since the incident went viral, the brand has removed the picture from their respective website, issuing an immediate apology for the act.
“We always wish that our shots can be both fun and natural. But after receiving feedback from our dear customers, we made the immediate decision for that particular shot’s removal,” it stated.
