A peaceful dinner between a mother and her daughter took an ugly turn when drunk patrons mistook the duo as a lesbian couple.
Both women were mistreated and badly beaten. Similarly, they suffered horrifying injuries.
Meanwhile, the so-called quiet late-night dinner took place at a restaurant in Manhattan. And that’s when three gay haters viciously attacked them. The patrons also shouted anti-gay slogans. And that was a clear indication of how they thought of them as a lesbian couple.
Today, 27-year-old Tiffany Santiago and her mother are speaking out on the incident. And they want disciplinary action to avoid such events in the future.
Falsely labeled ‘lesbian couple’ suffer massive injuries

The injuries required immediate medical attention. Tiffany from Astoria in Queens described how she received around six stitches to her knee. And that was just the beginning of the aftermath of the grave assault.
Ms. Santiago is a vet technician and all she wished for was some peace and quality time with her mother. However, little did she know that there were gay haters who were out to get her.
She and her youthful mother made their way to a cafe for a great meal. Furthermore, little did they know that it would end on the most bittersweet note.
Daughter says miscreants thought she was ‘gay’ thanks to her short hair
But what made the three drunk patrons attack this mother-daughter duo? Well, according to Tiffany, she says it could be anything. But she believes it’s most likely related to her short hair.
They described the gruesome ordeal that took place around 1 am, at a renowned Korean Barbeque restaurant in the city. The three drunk patrons comprised of two women and one man. While sitting at a nearby table, all three of them started walking towards them.
“When it comes to age, my Mom and I look quite similar, she said. “Since my mom is really tall and I have short hair, they probably thought that we were on a date.”
It all started with verbal abuses and a lot of anti-gay sentiments. This was closely followed by the exchange of the word ‘lesbian,’ several times during the conversation. The whole lesbian couple ordeal was a giant misunderstanding.
Furthermore, the patrons began throwing things at them. This included lemon wedges, napkins, and more.
Mother confronts rude diners at the restaurant
Santiago’s mother decided enough was enough. She got up and confronted the diners. Most importantly, she explained to them their mistake. Tiffany was in fact her daughter. They had mistaken them for something truly off guard. And it simply wasn’t fair on their part.
However, her efforts went in vain. And that’s because the patrons starting abusing them physically. They pushed and shoved them, and all of the violence escalated in seconds.
Shockingly, one of the drunk men threw Tiffiny across the restaurant’s room. And that left her with a bruised and bleeding knee. Meanwhile, the female companions came directly for Tiffiny’s mother. They got on top of her, punching her violently in the arm.
The mother suffered great lacerations as well as scrapes on her face. Above all, she chose not to seek any form of medical treatment too. Unfortunately, by the time that the police officials arrived at the scene, all three patrons ran away.
Soon, the NYPD department released CCTV footage that showed the faces of the criminal suspects.
