A 34-year-old female doctor fell to her death recently from her Cairo apartment, just two weeks ago.
According to media reports, the landlord, neighbor, and doorman are all accused of brutal torture and for carrying out the murder in the name of ‘honor killing’.
Moreover, the trio is guilty of allegedly breaking into her residence, beating her, and then throwing her to her death, from the 6th-floor balcony.

While the 34-year-old woman is yet to be identified publicly, local media outlets confirmed how the suspects involved in the gruesome murder have been arrested, after an investigation into the doctor’s death was carried out.point 196 | 1
In addition, the trio is actually accused of breaking into her apartment and then beating her as they feel she had spent plenty of time alone with her male colleague.
On the other hand, the news comes as strict and conservative social codes are followed in the Egyptian land. Experts from the country mentioned how it is termed to be a very shameful act for a female to be alone with some unrelated man, however, there is no specific law that expressly forbids it.
Currently, the men have still not been charged, as mentioned by the New Arab, with investigations taking place currently.
Meanwhile, authorities revealed how reports of the attack continue to vary with time. Some go as far as mentioning how the woman has pushed down the sixth floor, where she immediately died on the impact. Others go on to claim that the woman fell to her death while she was being attacked.
The landlord of the woman’s apartment denied all sorts of wrongdoing and then went on to mention how the woman actually killed herself through suicide as she was suffering from a major ‘psychological crisis’.
Egypt’s women’s rights activists are calling upon the government to take action against those accused while condemning the ongoing discrimination as well.
