The 57-year-old famous celeb pressed charges against the newspaper. And that’s right after it made the most harrowing claims.
Sources confirmed how it published a public article, exposing how the star abused his ex-wife. Right after the release, the star decided to press charges against the tabloid, The Sun. At the same time, the newspaper was confident from day one.
They explained how it always stood against cases of domestic violence and this was no exception. Moreover, it gave Depp’s ex, Amber Heard, credit for speaking up on the subject and going public.
Libel case’s verdict sends shockwaves around the globe
While the accusations startled the entire media fraternity and fans too, all eyes were on the libel case’s verdict. And when it came out, the media went into a massive frenzy.
The judge handling the case expressed how Johnny Depp was in fact guilty of the abuse. Moreover, he went on to claim how The Sun proved indefinitely how the article was ‘substantially true.’
Similarly, Justice Nicol said that 12 out of the 14 abuse allegations for domestic violence were true and took place.

As one can possibly expect, Johnny Depp’s team of lawyers didn’t take the news well. For this reason, they called out the decision for being ‘perverse.’ Moreover, they even went on stating how the Hollywood star plans to appeal the decision too.

Sources confirmed how the actual case began in July, with hearings lasting for 16 days. The setting was London’s renowned Royal Courts.

During the hearings, the judge made it a point to highlight 3 separate incidents. And that’s where he expressed how the actor made Heard fear for her life. In particular, one incident from Australia recalls how Depp physically and verbally abused his partner.
During the incident, Depp was not only under drugs but the effects of alcohol too. While Depp claimed that Heard severed his finger, the court dismissed that plea. The judge felt that Miss Heard wasn’t responsible.
Gold digger accusations put to rest
Amongst the 14 other accusations, one revolved around Depp complaining about Heard’s hoax as a means of gaining on an insurance policy. This also included how Heard was a ‘gold digger.’ However, the judge dismissed all such related claims.
In particular, he added how he did not accept the characterization put forward on Heard.
On the last day of the case trial in July, Heard expressed to the media how the whole ordeal was so painful. Meanwhile, she hoped and prayed how she could simply move on with her life.
