Sheila and Steve decided to take their two youngest sons out for a nice meal. However, little did they know that leaving their eldest son at home would turn into a regretful decision.
17-year-old John refused to accompany them on their journey. As a regular teen, he suffered from mood swings galore. And today was going to be no exception. But who knew that there was going to be an innocent teen dies event.

One night that changed it all
As the Albers rushed home to see their son, they discovered a rather bizarre scenario. Upon arrival, they met with the worse scene. Most importantly, they knew something was wrong. Why was their minivan on the neighbor’s yard?
John was brutally shot six times. And it was all due to the reckless behavior of the police. Instead of arriving and checking on him, they in fact killed him. And it’s truly heartbreaking beyond belief.
According to reports, one police officer shot at John twice. And that’s when he slowly started to push his van back towards the garage. Next, he fired around 11 more rounds of bullets. This caused his van to spin in an outwards direction.
But this wasn’t the story presented to the Albers.
Reckless behavior from the police- innocent teen dies
According to officers at the scene, John apparently passed. And that’s why he got shot. Yes, that’s the heartbreaking justification they gave. And therefore, they would not be able to find out till the next day, who in fact killed him.
Luckily, the footage for the entire incident is on film. Moreover, it took place at Kansas’s famous Overland Park. And that’s when the police fired several shots, leading to an innocent teen dies event. But who was actually responsible for shooting?
Family files lawsuit for wrongful death
Reports confirmed that it was in fact officer Clayton Jenison that did the unthinkable. But that’s the beginning of the horrifying drama. Police Department claimed that there was no justification for the shooting.
Above all, they justified their officer with some rather strange claims. It comprised of how the officer who shot had the right of doing so. He felt his life was in danger and hence had full rights of doing so.
But let’s not forget how he resigned, soon after the shooting. The Albers didn’t sit quietly, Moreover, they filed a lawsuit for wrongful death against the officer. And to settle it all, the city paid out a whopping $2.3 million.
