Kyle Rittenhouse’s lawyer has revealed how he’s been so inundated with death threats ever since the trial’s verdict that he can no longer use his phone.
Attorney Mark Richards claims he’s been getting so many threatening calls that when it comes to keeping track, he can’t. And that’s because he’s simply lost the count.
The lawyer went on to speak about how the intensity of the threatening phone calls continues to increase by the second, ever since the acquittal decision came in on Friday.
Now, the attorney has reportedly switched to using his wife’s phone to attend calls but that isn’t easy because he’s being targeted there too, he explained.
The verdict clearly inflamed so many passions after the jury declared 18-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse not guilty of all his charges, bringing the case to a shocking close.
Speaking to the Insider recently, the lawyer added how it’s not only the phone calls that are threatening but the emails too. “I am going through my mail now. There are so many threatening emails too,” he added.
“By the time I left the courtroom, I began receiving a lot of calls. But when I answered them, the first three were death threats, and that’s when I decided to just stop answering the phone,” he explained.
The lawyer says that he really hopes and wishes that things would change and that people would just talk to one another and get along, instead of fighting all the time. But unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be happening anytime soon as there are plenty of Americans who feel Rittenhouse should have been punished for shooting and killing two people.
In the same way, there are many schools of thought who believe the teen did not act in self-defense.
For now, the lawyer claims that his sole focus was defending his client and not advancing in a direction that revolves around political agendas.
