From rags to riches- a homeless man and his lucky affair

Imagine living in cardboard boxes for years since you can’t afford a home. Yes, just the thought of it brings tears to so many people’s eyes. But you won’t believe how destiny can alter your path in a second.

Meet John Heliniski who used to call cardboard his home. As a homeless and helpless man, he just didn’t have the money to do anything. Hence, you would often find him at a bus stop near Florida’s Tampa Bay. But his real-life story is very sad, to say the least.

At 62 years of age, John explained how robbers stole all of his personal belongings away. Hence, he had nowhere to go.

On that note, he thought it would be a good idea to check himself in at a homeless shelter. But since he had no documentation to prove it, that idea went down the drain. Now, he had to hit the streets with a cardboard box.

Cops and case manager to the rescue

Looking at the poor homeless man and his history, two people decided to step in and assist John. Little did the 62-year old know that they would change his life forever. Searching into his bank history past, cops and a case manager found some startling revelations.

According to them, his lost bank account was full to the brim. Moreover, it entailed enough money and social security to buy him a brand new home. How’s that for a change in fate?

Right after the amazing discovery, he told news outlets how he couldn’t believe his lucky stars. On that note, he looked back at his great struggles and how he made it on his own.

“There were days where I used to sleep beneath benches,” he exclaimed. That way, no one would see him or know he even existed.

If we called it a miracle come to life, it certainly wouldn’t be wrong in John’s case. Yes, the bank’s case manager did talk about how they needed his identification details via a birth certificate. Moreover, he lacked that clearly.

“We had no option but to work our ways around, without his birth certificate,” the case manager explained. “We couldn’t put him back on the streets. It just wasn’t acceptable.”

On that note, they took help from the Tampa Bay police station. Working on John’s case like a challenge, the cops finally made a breakthrough. As they dug through details of his driving license, they found out how he was an American citizen but a Polish national.

Suddenly, they stumbled upon his old bank account. It wasn’t in use for so long and hence, his social security built up and so did the cash inside.
