A vicious father was recently slapped with a jail sentence for life after he murdered his innocent one-month-old baby son.
According to local media outlets, 28-year-old James Lawton was sentenced for the horrific crime after carrying out the incident on little Colby in May of last year.
The father violently shook the baby, causing 50 rib fractures, as revealed in the courtroom during his trial. After being found guilty of brutally murdering his son, he was sentenced to life in prison, stated media reports. This comes with an additional clause of serving at least 17 years in prison at the Reading Crown Court.
Meanwhile, Colby’s 25-year-old mother named Chantelle Stroud who hails from Newbury was reportedly acquitted from her charges which revolved around cruelty to a child younger than the age of 16. This was the decision of the majority of the jury handling the case.
The jury heard how the child let out a high-pitched sound, similar to a scream after his monster father violently shook him to death. Reports also spoke about how the father was drunk that night he killed his son, right after a late-night rage that took place at his own residence in Newbury’s Berkshire.
Harrowing reports also spoke about how the father even broke his son Colby’s skull in a separate incident that occurred a few days before his death.
As a whole, the one-month-old child suffered from 50 broken bones, a fracture in the skull region, and partial strangulation, right before he passed away.
In addition to that, the courtroom was made aware of how there were more than 70 different bruises present on the child with the last fatal shaking being so severe that it led to the child’s severe brain damage too, similar to that seen in victims who went through car crashes at 90mph.
