A teenage girl was left fighting for her life after a spiteful ex-boyfriend ambushed and attacked her outside her home.
28-year-old Josey Trupp was just 16 years old when her boyfriend, then-17-year-old Brandon Moore, nearly killed her by beating her and throwing a massive concrete slab on the top of her back.
As the mother-of-three revealed, she and Moore were dating on and off for two years before the controlling and abusive boyfriend broke up with her.
“He was very controlling and would blackout in a rage and hit me in the face and supposedly not remember it when he calmed down and be upset that he hurt me,” Josey recalls.
“He broke up with me a few days before the incident because he ‘didn’t want to hurt me anymore.’”
Just days after their break-up, however, Moore showed up at the girl’s home and threatened to carry her outside after seeing her spending time with her male friend.
“But then he turned up at my house one day and found me with a guy friend and thought I was with him, so he told me to come outside or he’d carry me out,” she said.
While the teenager attempted to run away, she was stopped and beaten by her vile ex-boyfriend who dropped a large concrete slab on her back before running off and killing himself.
After the attack, Josey’s friend woke up only to find the teen struggling in a pool of blood. He immediately called for help and the girl’s family arrived just in time to see the 16-year-old get rushed to the hospital by paramedics.
After waking up, Josey thought she was going to die, whereas she was left paralyzed from the neck down.
“I said to my mom ‘I don’t want him to hurt me again’ and she told me he was dead, which was a relief but also made me sad,” Josey recalled.
“The doctors told me I was paralyzed from the neck down, would never walk again.”
Since the horrible attack, Josey had undergone intense therapy to regain control of her body. Her perseverance paid off after she was finally able to use her arms and legs again.
Nowadays, the 28-year-old is in a happy relationship with Zack Lazarus and is a proud mother of three children.
“I’m definitely a stronger person because of what I went through and I feel like it’s given me another purpose in life – to help other people,” Josey, who is now on a mission to raise awareness about abusive relationships, concluded.
“It feels good when people come to me for advice about relationships and disabilities, it’s my goal to help people.”
