A 15-year-old girl faces second-degree murder and hit-and-run charges after she ‘intentionally’ rammed into a 53-year-old man.
According to reports, the teen from Washington state borrowed her godmother’s 2004 Toyota Camry and allegedly plowed into Greg Moore because she wanted ‘to scare him.’
Her friend, who was in the passenger seat at that time, said that the teen had predetermined what she was about to do.
“I’m going to scare him, I’m going to bump him,” she supposedly said as she rammed into the victim, who was out for a jog at 6 am on July 18.
One of the teen’s friends, who was following them in another vehicle, said she heard a loud bang before seeing a body fly in the air.
The suspect allegedly laughed about the incident.
Moore’s body was found in a ditch hours later.
The teen’s godmother went to the police after she realized that the vehicle that hit the jogger was hers after watching the surveillance footage.
Accompanied by her frustrated father, the suspect turned herself in to police.
Moore’s grieving wife, Michelle, told reporters that a relative of the teen heard her laugh about the way Greg’s body flew in the air when the car hit him.
The teen now faces hit-and-run and second-degree murder charges but the victim’s wife wants her to be tried as an adult.
“It’s a ‘thrill kill’ is what it’s called,” she told KIRO.
“Even when juveniles are convicted as adults, Superior Court judges at sentencing can – and do in many cases – still follow the juvenile sentencing guidelines set by state lawmakers,” office spokesman Casey McNerthney said.
Mrs. Moore continued: “I would argue that the brutality of her crime and blatant disregard for human life warrants her being tried as an adult.”
But McNerthney said the prosecutor’s office has no choice. “There’s understandable frustration and this feeling that we don’t care about this case when we do.”
She explained that they plan to get a conviction so the suspect could remain in corrective detention until she turns 21.
Mrs. Moore wants people to contact the King County prosecutor and ask him to try the girl in adult court.
“It’s even worse knowing someone could take him from me like that,” she expressed.
“She stole that from me. I know I can never get Greg back. But if justice is not served, I’m afraid I will never know peace.”
