A gay couple made the headlines recently after they were called out by the police for kissing on Tulum Beach.
According to media reports, the gay couple originally hails from Canada. And as a part of their vacationing plans, they thought it would be nice to spread a relaxing day at Tulum Beach in Mexico. However, little did they know about how misery would strike for all the wrong reasons.
Yes, that’s the theme of the shockingly bizarre story here. And it’s making so many people raise their eyebrows for obvious reasons.

Hence, the couple couldn’t get their hands and lips off of each other. But before they knew, cops arrived at the scene for their arrest. And it was a mind-boggling affair, to say the least.
The two men began wondering and questioning as to what was their crime. Moreover, it was almost as if they were dumbfounded and blindsided. Cops ordered them to stand straight and obey the law as they were going to be detained for kissing.
Cops make an entry at Tulum Beach
The entire incident caused plenty of commotion to begin with. It wasn’t such a norm to see incidents like these happening at Tulum Beach. Therefore, this was definitely a major exception for many.
Cops informed the men how they were caught kissing ‘near a group of kids.’ And for them, that was a major offense.
Suddenly, things quickly got out of hand. Local members from the crowd began hovering around the police vehicle. Similarly, they began shouting slogans against the cops, demanding the gay couple’s immediate release.
No one felt that the men did anything inappropriate. Hence, they tried their level best with great force to stop the cops from proceeding further.
One bystander began recording the incident’s footage too. Coincidently, she belonged to a leading women’s rights activist group. And that is how it instantly went viral, reaching social media in no time.
Guilty for being gay
As the cops place hand-cuffs on both members of the gay couple, one of the arrested men gives his side of the story to the camera that films the incident.
“They arrested us because we are gay,” he explained. And again, he repeated his statement. Since the crowd’s anger and force to stop the police was in such a great number, the police couldn’t detain the men for too long.
“We are gay and we were kissing. That is the only reason why they’re taking action against us,” he added. Simultaneously, the crowds kept on chanting slogans against the police. And that continued right up until the end, where the police had no choice but to set them free.
The police chief gives his side of the story
In full defense of his unit’s efforts to control obscene behavior, the police chief in charge of the Tulum Beach area, gave his two cents on the issue. “There are families and kids all around. And this is clearly something that they can’t afford seeing,” he added.
In another public press statement, the chief talked about how the officers were just carrying out their duties. And that was when they acted upon a call made by several people.
