Joseph William McDonald is a 23-year-old gaming addict who suffers from issues relating to anger management. Recently, the heartless father admitted to authorities how he killed his own newborn son. And it all took place during a fit of rage.
Today, he stands guilty on counts of child homicide, recently declared by the Supreme Court in Victoria.
News agencies confirmed more tragic details relating to the case. And that includes how medical experts couldn’t revive the young child. According to them, he received a massive head injury, while in his home at Benalla in Victoria.
Father brutally lashes out at 7-week old son
As a gaming addict, Joseph admits to suffering from numerous anger management issues. Moreover, he recently confessed to searching for ways on how he could actually get a grip on his anger. But who knew that same anger would cost him the life of his own newborn son?
It was absolutely terrifying to find out how the gaming addict father suddenly burst out from nowhere. This was all during a PlayStation game. Other details regarding the investigation into the case showed more bizarre activity relating to Joseph. And it was just weeks before the harrowing incident took place.
Here, sources cited how he messaged his girlfriend and partner, Samantha Duckmanton, a heartfelt apology. In the text, he admitted to being ‘the worst father’ as well as the ‘worst partner.’
Gaming addict dad shows bizarre behavior, weeks before the crime
The series of long messages didn’t end there. He also mentioned how he planned on putting her as well as their children as his top priority. Similarly, he mentioned how he hated himself for behaving the way he did, towards her.
But that didn’t bring about any change in his behavior. After weeks of sending the message, his girlfriend heard a loud high pitched cry, while cooking in the kitchen. Upon questioning him as to why it occurred, he gave a strange excuse.
He sat there in the lounge, playing PlayStation with the newborn nearby. And that’s when he revealed that he was gently swaddling him, which led to the sound. Meanwhile, since little baby Lucas recently received vaccinations, his mother assumed it was related to that.
However, it soon began to worry her as he didn’t look alright, neither did he make any improvements.
Mother rushes the newborn child to the hospital
Ms. Duckmanton rushed her little son to the hospital, worried about his deteriorating condition. Doctors transferred him to Monash’s Children Hospital. But all of that was in vain as doctors pronounced him dead, a few moments later.
The hospital staff explained to the mother how the injuries weren’t fitting in the category of an accident. According to them, it was a direct blow to the head by forceful hitting. And that’s when the gaming addict father mentioned how he might have pushed too hard on the child’s head.
Soon, Joseph fled the hospital, leading cops to embark upon a manhunt. During his trial, the prosecutors explained how medical evidence showed forceful shaking or blunt trauma. On that note, he was charged with killing his newborn.
Today, Ms. Duckmanton mourns the loss of her only child. For her, the only thing that completed her little family is no more.
