The results of Gabby Petito’s autopsy have been revealed as the authorities continue the manhunt for wanted man Brian Laundrie.
Nearly one month after the discovery of Gabby Petito’s body, Teton County Coroner Dr. Brent Blue has confirmed that the van-life girl had died from strangulation.
“We find the cause of death to be strangulation and the manner is homicide,” the coroner confirmed, leaving the hearts of people who have been showing support for the young lady broken.
Besides the manner of Petito’s death, Dr. Blue also revealed that “the body was in the wilderness for three-to-four weeks” before it was finally found. Since the exact time of her death could not be confirmed, an “approximate date” will reportedly be noted on Gabby’s death certificate.
Though the coroner has revealed the cause of death, several important details surrounding the investigation were left out of his statement to the public.
Among other things, Blue didn’t reveal what condition the victim’s body was in when it was found. He also failed to reveal if she had any drugs in her system and if her body was buried. Furthermore, it is not clear whether the 22-year-old was killed in the same spot her body was later found.
The coroner, however, confirmed that the young traveler and vlogger was not pregnant at the time of her passing.
While Blue refused to say whether the autopsy results in any way link Petito’s death to wanted man Brian Laundrie, he eventually slipped up and suggested she was a victim of domestic abuse.
“I cannot make any comment about any suspects as we are not involved in that part of the investigation. So who committed the homicide is really to be confirmed by law enforcement,” he said.
The coroner then added: “It was quite the media circus and continues to be. Unfortunately, this is one of many deaths around the country of people who are involved in domestic violence. It’s unfortunate that other deaths do not get as much coverage as this one.”
