According to the reports, the incident took place back in 2019 when Norman led the police on a high-speed chase on Highway 14 and Interstate 85. During the chase, Xena was sitting in the back of her dad’s car.

After getting some distance between himself and the police, Norman came to a complete stop before disposing of a backpack filled with drugs and making a run for it without his daughter who remained in the car all alone.

Just moments later, as the police closed in on the father’s vehicle, the car was seen bursting into big flames with sparks flying all around the hood.

After the fire was put out, Xena was found dead in the back of the car. It was later ruled that she died of carbon monoxide poisoning and burns.

Following his arrest, Norman pleaded guilty to homicide by child abuse but insisted that he didn’t know the car was on fire when he went on a run and left his daughter behind.

“I just know that the car wasn’t on fire when I got out the car. I would have stayed in that car with my daughter,” Norman reportedly told the judge.

“I would have never got out the car while the car was on fire. I seen sparks coming from under the tires when I tried to stop and I couldn’t stop at that point. I don’t know why what happened to the car were I couldn’t stop.”

Now, the 28-year-old father has been sentenced to 28 years in prison. He will reportedly not be eligible for early release until he serves at least 85% of his sentence.
