This is a heartbreaking moment a mother found the lifeless body of her son in the backyard swimming pool of their neighbor only days after they moved into their new home.
3-year-old Isaac Powell was just enjoying his new home in Western Australia when his mother Zahra noticed that he was missing.
She frantically started searching the area, with other residents also combing the neighborhood, before the toddler was found by children in a neighbor’s pool.
Zahra performed CPR until emergency services arrived and he was rushed to Perth Children’s Hospital where he was declared dead.
Ummu Bakri, the boy’s aunt, said her sister had decided to move to the suburb to be closer to a school that offers a learning program for her oldest son.
Writing on Facebook, Ms. Bakri said: “She was so excited for the future, and as it was her birthday, she was trying to get everything organized for a family get-together at the new house.”
“Setting up the new house, she had realized her three-year-old son was missing,” she continued.
“Searching the house and the backyard, she couldn’t find him… All she could think was maybe he had managed to open the side door to the garage and escape onto the street.”
She also said that her sister didn’t think her son managed to get into a neighbor’s backyard.
“Isaac was found by her neighbor’s children lifeless in their swimming pool,” she added.
A fundraising page has been setup for the devastated family after the incident.
It reads: “We thought we would start this page to support them during this difficult time by reducing the stress of having to fund Issac’s final resting place and service.
“No one ever imagines that they will lose a child and plans to save money for this occasion. So, this page is here for anyone who is in a position who can or would like to help fund this.”
