Now, the teenage shooter has been cleared of all charges, whereas the jury reached a verdict and concluded that Rittenhouse acted in self-defense when he pulled the trigger and shot the two men.

After Rittenhouse walked away from the court a free man, Huber’s family has spoken out and suggested the verdict sends a wrong message to Americans.

“Today’s verdict means there is no accountability for the person who murdered our son,” the family expressed in a statement.

“It sends the unacceptable message that armed civilians can show up in any town, incite violence, and then use the danger they have created to justify shooting people.”

After the not guilty verdict was reached and announced, Huber’s girlfriend, Hannah Gittings, was seen breaking into tears in the courthouse.

She later opened up to the media and said: “Everyday I wish I could come home to him and unload some of the weight that’s on my shoulders. But I can’t. Because he’s dead.

“And now the system is telling me that no one should be held accountable. I’m not surprised, but I’m heartbroken.”

Taking aim at the verdict that has reopened the rift between the left and the right political side was also Kariann Swart, the girlfriend and fiancé of Rosenbaum, who said the case makes her feel as if her boyfriend’s life didn’t matter.
