30-year-old Amie Walton was receiving cancer treatment in a hospital when she was told that her husband Chris Miller, 40, had passed away from a ruptured stomach ulcer.

Only four weeks after Chris passed away, Amie died in Good Hope Hospital.

BirminghamLive followed Amie’s story and readers helped her raise more than $20,000 in 24 hours. This enabled her to undergo SIRT radiotherapy and it was successful.

But in May, her cancer had spread and she had 50 tumors in each lung.

A local storeowner named Bal Singh decided to set up a fundraising page for the children, Harry, 8, and Mia, 6, who are now being cared for by their grandmother Tracey.

“I would like to say a huge thank you to all involved who are helping raise money for my grandchildren. We have all had a very hard and tough time as late,” the children’s grandmother said.

“We were all busy concentrating on helping Amie through her illness and preparing ourselves for what lay ahead when we had the massive shock of Chris passing unexpectedly, Amie was so brave and built herself up to get through it which I was so proud of her for,” Tracey continued.

She also revealed that after Chris’s funeral, Amie visited her father in Devon and died only days later.

“We will continue to live on with them both in our hearts and do the best to bring up their children the best we can.”

“Again, thank you to Bal and everyone for their continued support, much love,” the grandmother added.
