A family of four tragically died in a 5-star hotel sauna complex only one hour after they arrived.
The tourists included a Russian couple aged 59 and 60, along with their 31-year-old daughter and her 37-year-old partner.
According to reports, they all died from ‘asphyxia’ within minutes of each other.
The family had just checked into Gloria Palace Hotel in Albania when they went to the sauna complex and ordered some refreshments.
A hotel worker reportedly said: “I shouted several times that the drinks and the fruit were ready.
“No one answered, so I walked inside the sauna and saw them all. One person was lying on a sunbed, two were on the (sauna) benches.
“The last one was sitting down with his legs in the pool. They have all suffocated.”
Police said in a statement: “At around 22:20 in Qerret, Kavaja the dead bodies of four people with Russian nationality were found in a sauna.
“All of them had been asphyxiated.”
Hotel employees were being questioned by police.
Investigators are now trying to determine how the family of four died within minutes of each other.
“They had only arrived at the hotel an hour before the tragedy,” a source said.
Police are investigating whether there was a technical failure in the sauna complex or inadequate care of tourists by hotel employees.
One person commented: “Omg, how awful for the families, go for a holiday and lose your lifes within hours of arriving. Suspicious isn’t the word!”
Another wrote: “Stories like these are really hard to forgot. That poor family. Rest in peace x.”
A third said: “Awful. They must have practically suffocated together or why would one not get out?!”
