Blake Lively’s Dad Ernie Has Passed Away From Cardiac Complications At The Age Of 74


Blake Lively’s father Ernie Lively has died from cardiac complications at the age of 74, his grieving family has announced.

The actor died in Los Angeles surrounded by his wife Elaine and all of his children, the Hollywood Reporter said.

Five of his children, including Blake Lively, followed his footsteps into acting.

It was in 1975 when Lively made his Hollywood debut with his role in The Waltons. He then enjoyed a steady 50-year career with his last role coming in the 2020 independent film Phobic.

He was featured in movies such as The dukes of Hazzard, Turner & Hooch, and Passenger 57.

But he is best known for his role as the father of his daughter Blake’s character in the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants in 2005.

He also reprised the character for the film’s sequel in 2008.

Lively was also credited with roles in famous movies, including Showdown in Little Tokya, Air America, Shock, and Mulholland Falls.

His career also included roles in TV series such as The West Wing, The X-Files, She Wrote, and Seinfeld Murder.

The Maryland native was born Ernest Brown Jr. in Baltimore. He was an English professor and also served as a lieutenant during the Vietnam war before he turned to the acting industry.

Throughout Ernie’s acting career, he had been a mentor for several young actors.

In addition to Blake Lively, who is married to actor Ryan Reynolds, Ernie also had four other children.

His daughters Lori and Robyn and sons Eric and Jason also built their own acting careers.

Lori featured in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, while Robyn had a role in the film Teen Witch and TV series Twin Peaks.

Eric starred in American Pie and The Butterfly Effect 2 while Jason featured in National Lampoon’s European Vacation.
