Johnny Depp finally won a case against Amber Heard, and the latter must provide proof that she donated her divorce settlement to charity.

Earlier this year, Depp failed to appeal his libel ruling in the High Court, which sided with The Sun calling him a ‘wife beater’ as her ex-wife’s claims of abuse were substantially true.

A few months later, after a series of controversy and debate, Depp secured an unexpected victory in his legal battles with Heard.

In 2016, Heard vowed to donate the money from her $7 million divorce settlement to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

However, MailOnline reported that Andrew Caldecott, Depp’s lawyer, said that Heard’s alleged donation was a ‘calculated and manipulative lie’ that ‘tipped the scales against Mr Depp from the very beginning’.

Depp’s legal team then filed a petition with the New York Supreme Court for the ACLU to provide proof of Heard’s donation, to which the latter refused to co-operate.

The judge ruled in favor of 23 out of the 24 requests in the ‘motion to compel’, and denied the request for documents pertaining to Heard’s role as an ACLU ‘brand ambassador’.

According to the judge, Depp ‘has satisfied the initial burden of stating the circumstances of reasons underlying the subpoena… the ACLU has failed to demonstrate that the information sought it utterly irrelevant to the action’.

“Thus, for the reasons stated herein, the petition is granted and denied in part, and respondents are ordered to comply with all subpoenas with the exception of… documents pertaining to Ms Heard’s role as a brand ambassador for the ACLU,” they added.

Heard said in a statement that she remained financially independent from her ex-husband the whole time they were together and the entire amount of her divorce settlement was donated to charity.
