Wisconsin couple goes into a hospital for the birth of a newborn baby. Excited as ever, the couple didn’t know what it would be like to be parents for the first time. But little did the father know about what was really in store for him.
Usually, it’s the mums who have the tough aspect. Cooking, cleaning, looking over the household, and breastfeeding too. However, what happens when the mum can’t feed her own child? Well, it’s the dad to the rescue. And here, it seems like that was exactly what took place.
Pre-eclampsia and high blood pressure were just the starts of the mum’s worries when she delivered her child. Yes, she suffered from some of the worst health conditions that you can imagine. Moreover, the main reason why she had an emergency c-section had to do with a major seizure. Truly, she was in a dire state.
A beautiful baby girl comes to life
Little baby Rosalie came into this world on the 26th of June. But that didn’t end the number of great health scares that surrounded mum April Neubauer. Certainly, that wasn’t the end of her seizures either.
Soon, she had another seizure. Clearly, she needed help. They even had to whisk her away for treatment and some more time needed for her recovery too. But what could her husband do alone with the baby? It needed special care and attention and a feed too.
Therefore, that’s when the dad had to step in. The dad breastfeeds journey begins from here. So now, the tiny 7 pounds and 15-ounce baby came into the world and then straight to his dad’s arms.
From now on till needed, he would breastfeed his child. While it’s very bizarre thinking of a male doing it, it’s the truth.
Can men breastfeed their children?
The answer is yes they can but not to the same extent as women. Yes, it’s a balancing act that involves the world of hormones and men don’t have the same levels of estrogen as women but their levels of testosterone make all the difference in the world.
The nurse comes out with the beautiful baby girl and gives it straight to her dad. And that’s when revealed the unique experience.
“I went with the nurse towards the nursery. Next, we all went towards the nursery and sat down. I removed my shirt and had to put my child’s skin near to mine,” mentioned the dad.
The nurse explained to the dad how she needed to start off the process by giving the child a little formula feed. In other words, finger feeding was also acceptable.
Out of the blue, the nurse asked the dad if he would now like to try his hand at breastfeeding. Scared and appalled as ever, the dad was willing to do anything for his baby’s sake.
The nurse attached the nipple shield and a tube that was linked with the dad’s chest. And would you believe, it worked! Yes, roles were reversed and there are no ifs and buts about it.
