Famous Squad member Cori Bush and leading news channel CNN were both slammed recently after they played imminent roles in promoting a fake story.
According to local media outlets, CNN was under fire after it went all out for a supposed ‘heartwrenching’ story that involved a homeless single mother and her three young children. But that story was totally false, as the mother actually turned out to be just a babysitter in the end.
32-year-old Dasha Kelly who hails from Las Vegas was recently a major part of a segment on the news channel last week. This is where she spoke about her struggles and how hard it was for a woman like her to pay rent as days got closer to the eviction moratorium. Clearly, this woman put up a fabulous act because that was far from her reality.
Shockingly, the outlet also reportedly brought the ‘fake mum’ back on to their show with her children for another interview which was scheduled as a follow-up. This time around, the real babysitter would be speaking to leading Democratic congresswoman and Squad member Cori Bush.
Kelly spoke about how she was raising money for a GoFundMe account that would allow her to cover her ‘expenses.
’ Therefore, little did viewers know that it was all a scam and the babysitter was far from a real mother.Hence, innocent and kind-hearted viewers poured their hearts out for the fake mum, generating a total value of $230,000 in no time.
After seeing the news go viral, the real mother of the children approached CNN and raised her voice on how those kids were hers in reality and that Kelly was just a babysitter.
Shadia Hilo, the real mother, was not afraid to speak her mind as she came forward with a bang, forcing CNN to admit their mistake and release a correction statement on the matter.
