However, breaking news emerged from Oakland recently. And that’s when the artist confirmed how unknown individuals stole the sculpture. He further went on explaining how he discovered the bust missing on Tuesday.

Star artist expresses his concerns

Meanwhile, Leo Carson also explained how the whole scenario took place so abruptly. After finding out how it was vandalized, he decided to start a GoFundMe page to raise funds for its repair.

Leo says that he wanted to repair the sculpture using sturdier bronze. And since that required extra costs, he made an account on GoFundMe to collect adequate funds for the broken statue repair process.

Thankfully, Leo explains how he was able to collect more than enough funds to cover his goals. However, the very next day, news broke out regarding its disappearance.

He expressed his anger regarding the incident. Similarly, he talked about many tried their best to erase Breonna Taylor’s image. But he remained determined to make their efforts fail, urging others to do so too.

News regarding the theft spreads

In the meantime, investigations on the mysterious disappearance continue. And that’s when the artist mentioned how he planned to fill the hollow base left with concrete.

Police officers began an immediate inquiry into the case when news about the sculpture’s theft broke out. In the same way, the artist held a press conference at Latham Square. It was a part of a rally that addressed the theft.

The statue came with the phrase, “Say Her Name.” Covered in bronze, it represented Breonna in all her glory. But the vandalizing news was heartbreaking. To be more specific, this was just two weeks after its installation in the downtown area in the city.

The famous artwork commemorated Breonna Taylor. She was a 26-year-old Black female who officers shot, after storming into her home in Louisville. Media reports confirmed how an alleged botched drug raid took place in March.
