‘Her boyfriend did shoot at the cops and shot a cop,’ claims Barkley

Barkley’s statement went viral when he showed solidarity for the police officers. ‘You need to take into account how her boyfriend shot at the cops,’ he claimed. ‘I’m really sorry but we can’t relate this to the same situation as George Floyd.’

These comments received a rather insensitive hashtag by viewers worldwide. At the same time, Shaquille O’Neal rushed to his friend’s defense. He was among the audience members at the game.

And that’s when he stepped in to defend the co-host. ‘I have to agree with Charles, it’s sort of lumped in. You need to get a warrant signed and many states do allow for no-knock warrants,’ he said.

Moreover, he also received backlash for showing more insensitivity. ‘When you talk about matters relating to murder, you need to prove intent.’ He ended the hot debate by calling the incident as a homicide and expressing his grief that a homicide took place.
