While she may not have won gold at the 2020 Tokyo Games, Simone Biles has finished strong for Team USA.
The famous athlete turned heads after she announced her decision to compete at the final event for the women’s individual balance beam. This came as a shock as she had just recently announced her decision to withdraw from the competition. With many critics skeptical of her performance as a whole, the young star surprised the world with her outstanding delivery and confidence.
Simone won so many hearts as she secured a bronze medal and while she may not have won the gold for her nation, this is definitely a historic piece she plans on cherishing forever,
The star spoke to the press recently where she explained her happiness on getting the third position at the event that took place on Tuesday. “For me, it truly means so much. It means way more than any of the golds that I’ve ever pushed through for in the past five years as well as the last week too.”
Biles returned back to the competition after she reportedly called it quits from a number of her events, citing her mental health concerns. Despite receiving criticism across the board, many supported her decision and vowed to support her no matter what.
Simone was awarded a bronze medal after she secured a whopping 14.000 while being the third gymnast in the event to compete for the title. First and second place went to China with scores comprising 14.633 and 14.233.
Now, the US athlete stands tall and proud with a total of 7 medals, which reportedly puts her in a tie with a leading athlete and gymnast Shanon Miller.
Moreover, this is also the greatest number of medals ever won by any American gymnast too.And for that reason, Simone Biles should surely be very proud of her achievements, explained experts.
