PICTURED: 14-Year-Old Boy Who Was Crushed To Death During The Stampede At Travis Scott’s Concert


The youngest victim of the stampede at Travis Scott’s concert has been identified and pictured.

14-year-old John Hilgert from Texas was a popular Memorial High School 9th grader who was known for his big heart and passion for baseball.

On Friday night, during the Astroworld Festival in Houston, the boy was trampled to death in the horrific stampede that cost a total of eight people their lives.

In a tribute to the young man, John’s baseball coach dubbed the 14-year-old “one of the nicest human beings” who had a positive impact on the people around him.

“RIP John Hilgert. He got the Call up to the Major Leagues by the Almighty! John made an impact on anyone who met him and they always remembered him. I have memories of John I’ll never forget,” Justin Higgs wrote in his post.

“You had to love the kid. No option not too because he was who he was. He loved the game if baseball. Was a privilege to coach this young man. Many prayers go out to any of his friends, teammates, and his family… especially Ms. Hilgert.

“John was an Angel the whole time I knew him – impacting others for good and he himself was a legend. The legend of John. Will meet again John. Till then watch over us my friend. Catcher, pitcher, shortstop, great kid. Lived his life to the fullest.”

Paying a tribute to the 9th grader and voicing support for his family was also the boy’s school district who dubbed the tragedy a “terrible loss.”

“Our hearts go out to the student’s family and to his friends and our staff at Memorial. This is a terrible loss, and the entire MHS family is grieving today,” a Spring Branch ISD spokesperson said.

“Please keep the student’s family in your thoughts and prayers as they face this tragedy. We will make counselors available to students next week to offer any help and support needed.”
