Blanche Monnier was a charming girl of France who spent a quarter of a century in a dark room fighting for her choice.
She was born in the year 1849 in a family of aristocrats. Her parents were very disinclined when it became a matter of her daughter’s marriage.
When she became a teenager, she was receiving many letters from suitors thus became attracted to many of them. But her mother became so annoyed as she considered her daughter so precious for marriage. Her mother was not happy with the choice her daughter had made. So her mother locked her in an underground cell. Blanche spent 25 years of her beautiful life in that dark dungeon.

When she was 25, this elegant girl fell in love with a lawyer.She wanted to marry that old lawyer but her mother was not happy with this relation.
She disliked her daughter’s choice and locked her in a dark cell.Her mother thought that her daughter was so precious that she could not give her hand to a penurious lawyer. Due to this, she tried much to bring this love to an end but all in vain.
One day Blanche Monnier disappeared from her place. Her mother and the brother bemoaned her. After this, they kept busy in their daily routines and forgot Blanche. All this cruelty of her mother made the story of Blanche Monnier dreadful efforts of the Attorney General of Paris.
Years passed, and one day, the attorney general of Paris received a letter. The letter contained the content saying,
I have written this letter to inform you about some cruel acts happening at the house of Madame Monnier. She had locked her daughter for the last twenty-five years. And her daughter is in poor condition.
Nobody believed that Madame Morrie could do this as she was a very respected and responsible citizen of Paris.

All the people were with a mindset that Blanche Monnier died many years ago. The police still reached that location to claim that the information was false. When the officers reached out to their house, the family members denied entering them into the house but they forcefully entered.
Policemen reached the second floor and found a dark room with locked shutters. When the police officers entered the room, a foul smell was all around the room. Then they saw a woman lying on the bed. She looked less like a woman and more like a tired animal.
Trash, decayed food pieces, and feces covered the floor of the room. She was in complete isolation with proper cut off from the sun rays, and social contact with anyone. The cruel mother even did not properly provide food to her daughter. When she was taken out of the darkroom, she was so scared.

After this, the cops arrested and imprisoned her mother. But after exactly fifteen days, her mother died.
Police also arrested her brother and then released him because he never restricted the movement of her sister. Later, Blanche became admitted to a psychiatric hospital. Unfortunately, she never turned back to society even after her treatment.
