The 83-year-old is all set to be released from the SCI Phoenix prison which is located in Skippack Township today, right after serving two years behind bars. Moreover, Cosby was convicted in the year 2018 for drugging as well as sexually assaulting a woman by the name of Andrea Constand at his own residence.

In the same way, the famous celeb was publicly accused of carrying out misconduct by a number of different women. However, it is reported that none of the women’s claims had been prosecuted as they all fell outside the domain of limitations.

At his very first trial, there was just one woman who testified, and that’s when the jury became deadlocked, hence, for this reason, a mistrial was immediately declared.

This tactic is similar to one being used by prosecutors involved in Harvey Weinstein’s case, which demonstrates a certain type of behavior. But Bill Cosby didn’t back down. He fought till the very end, claiming that all of the women’s testimonies were false and made up.

He also added how their findings were irrelevant and had been directed in a manner to make the jury assume that he was guilty of the acts.

But on Wednesday, the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania mentioned how it just wasn’t fair, overturning his conviction and ordering for his immediate release. Two of the main reasons for overturning the conviction include:

  1. How the testimony made by five women was absolutely irrelevant to his charges
  2. A public comment made by District Attorney Bruce Castor who spoke about how he wasn’t going to prosecute Bill Cosby, which prosecutors used to strengthen their case against him.

For this reason, the Supreme Court announced how Bill Cosby’s 5th Amendment right was violated against self-incrimination, and for that reason, he would be freed from jail.
