President Biden and his administration have recently been blasted for offering cash to all Florida schools that defy the mask ban orders of Governor Ron DeSantis.
The President announced how federal funds had been allocated to various school districts in Florida that went against the mask ban which he felt was certainly out of place. The news comes as the state of Florida grips for a shocking number of positive COVID-19 cases. This is reportedly the highest number of cases across the country.
More and more deaths, as well as hospitalizations, arose in Florida, spreading fear and alarm in schools amongst many other locations. Now, the Biden administration feels that it is the right time to step in as the Education Secretary sent out a letter to DeSantis as well as the education commissioner of Florida.
This letter boldly stated how schools will now be allowed to use federal funds, at their sole and complete discretion, to pay off the salaries of a number of administrators and the board members too. This is for those whose salaries had been withheld by the state for going against the major order.
“We are so eager to partner up with the Department of Education in Florida on carrying out any efforts towards further sharing our common goals towards the protection of health as well as the safety of a number of students and their educators,” he went on to add.
In the same way, it went on to add that under the circumstances where the FLDOE refuses to pursue this approach, the State Department will continue to work by its side with a number of school districts as well as educators who serve the students of Florida.
On the other hand, one spokesperson for DeSantis blasted the administration who went as far as mentioning how every single state had the right to create its own laws.point 252 |
But this came after the Governor signed an executive law that banned districts from putting the face mask rule as mandatory, despite receiving recommendations from the CDC against such a rule.point 162 | 1
