90 People, Including 13 Americans, Killed In The Attack On Kabul Airport In Afghanistan


According to the latest reports, 13 US service members have lost their lives in the bomb attacks outside Kabul airport in Afghanistan.

As General Kenneth F. McKenzie has confirmed, 12 Marines and a Navy medic died when jihadists targeted the crowds outside the airport in Kabul in twin suicide bomb attacks.

The 13 US victims are among hundreds of people who were killed or severely injured in the bomb attacks. According to Kabul health officials, the total death toll could be as high as 90, whereas at least 150 people are believed to be injured.

Following the suicide bombing, which marks the most lethal attack against the US forces in the last decade, President Biden has vowed revenge against the jihadists responsible for the deaths.

Meanwhile, General McKenzie, the U.S. Central Command Head, explained what had happened at the airport at the time of the attack.

“As you know, two suicide bombers, assessed to be ISIS fighters, detonated in the vicinity of the Abbey Gate at the airport and in the vicinity of the Baron Hotel,” he said.

“The attack on the Abbey Gate was followed by an attack by ISIS gunmen, who opened fire on civilian and US forces.

“At this time, we know that 12 US service members have been killed in the attack and another 15 have been injured. A number of Afghan civilians were also killed or injured.”

Shortly after the general’s statement, it was confirmed that another US serviceman had passed away as a result of the attack.

General McKenzie also went on to warn that ISIS-K, the group that claimed responsibility for the attack, will likely attempt more similar attacks in the future.

“We believe it is their desire to continue these attacks and we expect those attacks to continue and we’re doing everything we can to be prepared for those attacks,” he added.
